Hydraulic Tables Industry Information

Hydraulic Tables

A hydraulic table uses a motor powered by hydraulic pressure to raise and lower a table that is attached to moving parts. The arms that raise and lower the table are usually in a scissor pattern so they can extend and retract with a greater range of motion. The hydraulic pressure moves a piston on a cylinder beneath the table, causing the table to go up or down as the pressure increases or decreases. A hydraulic table can be made to extend just a few inches, a few feet, or even more based on the application requirements. For less demanding applications, the lift mechanism may not use a motor and instead use a foot pedal to generate hydraulic pressure. This significantly reduces the weight of the lift but also limits the lifting power of the hydraulic table.

Benefits of Hydraulic Tables

Hydraulic tables are utilized in many industries where objects need to be lifted to great heights or objects are lifted repeatedly. For many applications, workers could accomplish the task of lifting objects, but repeated lifting is a common cause for work related injuries and can quickly wear out the hardest of workers. Hydraulic table lifts can easily lift heavy objects repeatedly, making them a far more efficient option for accomplishing this kind of task. They can also lift objects to much greater heights than an ordinary worker could by themselves. Additionally, hydraulic tables can be equipped with casters or wheels to allow them to move around flat surfaces. That means that a hydraulic table can be used to lift objects and move them across facilities or work environments.

Things to Consider When Choosing a Hydraulic Table

Like many other hydraulic lifts, a hydraulic table can be designed to handle a variety of different weights. Basic hydraulic tables often only have a lifting capacity of only 500 pounds. However, on the opposite end of the spectrum, heavy duty lift tables can handle weights of more than 3000 pounds. Obviously, there is a significant difference in the price point of these two products, but regardless of the lifting requirements, there is a full range of hydraulic tables to meet the specifications of practically any application. Many manufacturers can also engineer and fabricate custom hydraulic tables to meet the specific needs of a particular application or industry.
