Applications of Military Foam
Military grade foam is used in the military as well as homeland security, aerospace, and defense. Typically, military foam is used for applications like military equipment packaging, such as protective cases and foam inserts. They also provide support to military aviation via shock absorption, wing stiffening, fuel tank protection, and noise elimination. Military foam products are instrumental to keeping sensitive equipment, weapons systems, and tools safe and secure. They do so by providing cushioning, acoustic control and vibration dampening, and preventing jostling. If manufacturers fabricate them to do so, military foam parts can even offer flame retardancy.
Military Foam Standards
To meet your specifications, manufacturers may get certified by or register with a variety of relevant organizations. Examples include: Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DDTC), the US State Department, International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR), and ISO. Military foam manufacturers can also meet specifications such as USAF Grades I and II, Mil-PRF-87260 B, and Mil-DTL 83054 C (Types IV and V).
